CLARENCE, N.Y. — It was a record breaking weekend for eating slices of pumpkin pie in Clarence. On Saturday, Naader Reda set a world record for eating more than 9 pounds of pumpkin pie in thirty minutes, and then Sunday another record was set. Hundreds of people at the Great Pumpkin Farm watched nearly twenty competitors put away as many slices of pumpkin pie as they could in ten minutes.
Jamie ‘Bear’ McDonald set a new world record by eating thirty-three slices without a fork or picking up the slices with his hands.
“A lot of food you can just grab it and shove it in as fast as you can, and this you kinda have a little of technique to it,” said McDonald. “Try not to use your hands, but guide it into your mouth where you can do thirty-three pieces in 10 minutes.”
McDonald says this is his twenty-fifth contest of the year and he’ll be taking a break from competitive eating until February.
